Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter (born March 26 1991) is better known under her stage title Ari Lennox is an American singer and songwriter from Washington, D.C. She is the first female artist signed to J. Cole's label Dreamville Records. Her first single was released with the label on October 21 2016 with the title Pho. It was then that she started to gain notoriety. Shea Butter Baby released her first album of studio work on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox first released music online in 2012. The singer released her debut album Ariography as well as her debut mixtape in 2013 Five Finger Discount. The singer continued uploading her music online in 2014, including the independently-released single Bound. In 2015, she was featured on Omen's Elephant Eyes Album, which came out on the 21st July. released on the 21st of July. Later that year her music circulated around the Dreamville team, as J. Cole wanted her to join him in creating some possible references for Rihanna. On December 28, 2008 it was revealed that Rihanna was hired to Dreamville Records. She was featured on the album collaboratively titled Revenge of the Dreamers II on the track Backseat with Cozz. The 21st of October, 2016, her Pho EP was released. Ari Lennox appeared in J. Cole's Change track and also opened her own tour, the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017. In 2018 she went on to guest feature on two tracks with her labelmates EarthGang on Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox debuted her first single, Shea Butter Baby, Whipped Cream on July 16, 2018. The music video followed by a music video in September. On November 9 she released two singles titled 40 Shades of Choke and Grampa. In November 13, she dropped two singles titled The No One or Pedigree. Then she appeared as a guest on the Creed II soundtrack with Cole on the track Shea Butter Baby on November 16, and it was released as a single in February, 2019, to accompany her debut album with the same title. On February 20, 2019 a music video was made available for the track. The track has received nearly three million views on YouTube within the first week. In December 2018, she performed as an opening act for The From East Atlanta With Love Tour with 6LACK.
